Spring Ag Symposium and Grass Growers Gathering

Pull out those yellow cards and take a second glance at the expiration date!  Renewal time for pesticide applicators often approaches quicker than we realize!  Private pesticide applicators are required to have 15 Continuing Educations Units (CEUs) every 5 years to renew their Texas Department of Agriculture Issued Applicators License.  Of the fifteen required hours two must be in Integrated Pest Management, two in Laws and Regulations, and the remaining can be in any combination of General, Integrated Pest Management, Laws and Regulations, or Drift.


If you are looking for hours or interested in a great course on all things range, pasture, weed & brush, soil, and more you will want to mark your calendars for two upcoming events.


The Spring Ag Symposium will be hosted on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at the Washington County Fairgrounds Sales Facility with registration beginning at 8:00am and the program to follow from 8:30-11:00am.  This one of a kind web-based program will provide attendees the opportunity to listen to presentations covering a variety of pertinent topics including, The Forgotten Goat, Alternative Ranching Operations, Tips for Stretching Your Dollar in Forage Production, Internal and External Parasites in Livestock, and Cost Saving Tips for Brush Control.  Two continuing education units (1 General, 1 Laws/Regulations) will be offered to all licensed applicators in attendance for the duration of the program.  The program is offered FREE of charge to anyone who would like to attend with an RSVP to the Washington County Extension Office by April 13th. 


If you are in the business of managing grass, producing forage, or working to restore a pasture that is in disarray we have the program you won’t want to miss.  Join us on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at the Washington County Fairgrounds Sales Facility for the Grass Growers Gathering.  Program topics will include soil fertility management, weed and brush control, and will offer a meal.  Pre-registration is $10 per person and is required by April 13, 2018 to ensure an accurate count for the meal.  Late registration at the door will be $20 per person.  Registration will include the meal, refreshments, and program materials.
