An estimated 46% of adults with hypertension (high blood pressure) are unaware that they have the condition. Less than half of adults (42%) with hypertension are diagnosed and treated. Approximately 1 in 5 adults (21%) with hypertension have it under control. is often called a “silent killer” because there can be no apparent symptoms. Causes can include stress, excessive salt or alcohol consumption, being overweight, and certain medications. If you’re concerned about your blood pressure, start with a healthy diet.
The Washington Extension Education Association (EEA) will host the FREE High Blood Pressure program – OPEN TO ALL – on August 6, 2024, at the Washington Expo Event Center. Doors will open at 5:30pm, and will offer free blood pressure readings until 6:00pm. From 6:00 – 7:30 pm, this program will feature an education presentation, a cooking demonstration that you can easily replicate at home, and a hands-on homemade spice blend session.
