The Bluebonnet Master Gardeners are pleased and proud to offer a one week gardening education camp in each county this June. The camp is an excellent 4-H record book activity! This is the second year that our volunteers have joined together to develop a unique, hands-on program with goals to promote a love of gardening, develop an appreciation for the environment, give back to the community and develop healthful eating habits.
Each camp will accept children ages 10 through 13 with a maximum of 15 students per county. We will use herbs as the basis for teaching about soil, water, nutrition, cooking, food preservation, insect pollination and pest identification among other gardening topics. Camp hours are 8:00 a.m. to noon with hands-on activities and crafts based on the theme of the day. A smoothie making bike will keep things lively and campers will construct an herb garden to take home.
The deadline to register is Friday, May 26, 2017. The cost is $25.00 per week/per child.
Applications may be mailed to Donna Cain, BMGA Kid’s Kamp Director, 10855 Wildlife Circle, Carmine, TX 78932.
